Whole Life Insurance in Frisco

Whole life is coverage meant to last as long as you do. The premium is set when the policy starts, and part of each payment builds cash value you can use later. We walk you through it slowly, and the same person stays with you the whole way.

Permanent coverage, built carefully

A whole life policy pays a death benefit to your beneficiary whenever you pass, not only within a set term. The premium does not rise with age. Over the years the policy also accumulates cash value on a schedule the insurer spells out in the contract, and many policies from mutual companies may add dividends on top, though dividends are never promised.

It is the right fit for some people and the wrong one for others. It usually makes sense when a need will not expire: a spouse who will rely on you for life, a child with special needs, an estate that will owe taxes, or a business partner who will need funds to buy out your share. If your need ends when the kids finish college, term life insurance may serve you better, and we will say so.

We are a small team, so the agent who asks the first questions is the one who reads your illustration with you, sits in on underwriting questions and delivers the finished policy. Nobody hands you off.

What our whole life work includes

A needs review first

We start with what the money is for and how long the need lasts. The coverage amount comes from that conversation, not from a chart.

Side-by-side illustrations

We show you the guaranteed column and the non-guaranteed column next to each other. You see what the contract promises and what depends on future dividends, in plain numbers.

Premium schedule choices

Whole life can be paid for life, paid up by age 65, or paid over a shorter span such as ten or twenty years. We compare how each one changes the cost and the cash value.

Rider selection

Waiver of premium, paid-up additions and accelerated benefit riders each add cost. We explain what each one does so you only keep the ones that earn their place.

Beneficiary setup

We help you name primary and contingent beneficiaries correctly, including trusts or a business entity where that applies. A mistake here can send money somewhere you never intended.

Delivery and yearly check-ins

Once your contract is issued, we sit down with you and read through each section together, from the beneficiary designation to the premium schedule. In the years after, the same agent can look over your annual statement with you whenever you like.

Signs whole life may be the right call

  • Your need has no end date

Some obligations last a lifetime, such as support for a dependent adult or final costs. Coverage that expires at 70 does not meet them.

  • Your term policy is nearing its end

Many term policies can be converted to permanent coverage without a new medical exam, but only within a window. If yours is closing, it is worth a look now.

  • You own part of a business

Partners often use permanent policies to fund a buy-sell agreement. The cash value can also sit on the books as an asset.

  • You want a forced, steady way to save

Cash value grows slowly but on a contract schedule. For people who already max out retirement accounts, that steadiness can be appealing.

  • Your estate will face costs

A larger estate may owe taxes or need cash so heirs are not forced to sell property. A death benefit can cover that cleanly.

How the process runs

  1. 1

    A first conversation

We talk by phone about your family, your goals and your budget. If whole life is not a fit, we tell you and point you toward something that is.

  2. 2

    Quotes and illustrations

We gather quotes from the carriers that suit your health and age, then sit down at your business or by phone to walk through the illustrations.

  3. 3

    Application and underwriting

Most whole life policies ask for a health questionnaire and often a paramedical exam with a blood draw. Underwriting commonly takes several weeks, and we follow up with the carrier so you are not chasing anyone.

  4. 4

    Policy delivery

Once approved, we bring the policy to you, confirm the beneficiaries and the premium schedule, and answer what is left. The free-look period gives you time to change your mind after delivery.

What shapes the premium

Whole life costs more than term for the same death benefit because it is built to last and to build cash value. The good news is the price is set at the start and stays level. These are the things that move it most.

Age and health
The younger and healthier you are when you apply, the lower the premium for life. Tobacco use and certain conditions move you into a higher rating class.
Face amount
A larger death benefit means a larger premium. We size it to the real need so you are not paying for coverage you do not use.
How fast you pay it off
A policy paid up in ten years carries higher yearly premiums than one paid for life, but it is finished sooner and often builds cash value faster.
Riders and the carrier
Each rider adds cost, and carriers price the same coverage differently. Shopping several companies is part of the work we do for you.

Whole life questions we hear often

Something not covered here? (469) 717-3900

How does the cash value actually work?

Part of each premium goes into a reserve that grows on a schedule set in the contract. You can borrow against it or surrender the policy for it. Loans that are not paid back reduce the death benefit. Cash the policy out in its first several years and the surrender value is often smaller than the total of the premiums you have put in, since early payments carry much of the insurer's setup cost.

Is whole life better than term?

Neither is better across the board. Term costs less and fits needs that end, while whole life fits needs that last and adds savings. Many people in Frisco and the surrounding area hold some of each, and we can show you the comparison side by side.

How is this different from universal life?

Whole life has fixed premiums and a guaranteed cash value schedule. Universal life insurance lets you adjust premiums and the death benefit, which adds flexibility but also more risk that the policy lapses if it is underfunded.

What happens if I can no longer afford the premium?

You have options before letting it lapse. Depending on the policy, you may use dividends to cover premiums, take a reduced paid-up policy with a smaller benefit, or switch to extended term coverage. We go over these with you before any decision.

Will I always talk to the same person?

Yes. We are a small team, and the agent who opens your file keeps it, from quotes through underwriting to delivery and later reviews.
